Why We Love Staffing
The other day, our Crossroads team was engaged in a conversation about recruitment life. Like any professional, we each have our days where we're a little hard on ourselves. We did good, but we could've done amazing; we thought of an idea after the fact; etc. But instead of making the work all about us, we back-tracked to what we were really doing here: helping people. If you find yourself getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of human resources life, just remember that your job services a greater purpose than just filling jobs. Here's why we love it:
We Help Lives Change
A new job is the start of a whole new path in someone's life. An entry level employee gets their first real job and kick-starts their career. A family's household income gets high enough so they can finally move into their dream home. A person gets the chance to make the career change they've always wanted. You're quite literally changing a person's life.
We're Helping the Economy
According to americanstaffing.net, the staffing industry contributes nearly $130 billion to the U.S. economy. The staffing industry is comprised of more than 17,000 firms and 14 million staffing employees. Every day, staffing businesses send 3 million employees to work in America. Its a necessary industry that helps support the economy's growth and employment rate.
We Get To Use Good, Honest Judgment
A huge element of recruitment is keen judgment. It's hard to teach good judgment - you just have to experience it. Recruiters are very influential in the hiring process. They have to remain unbiased yet still extract the best information possible from each candidate. They have to take what isn't on paper, and find what the star quality is in a perfect candidate for a job. They also have to be able to promote the best candidate in their opinion. They really have to exercise a responsible, unbiased, well-informed mindset that can't easily be taught.
Everyone Wins
In typical business transactions, customers buy products from a client – whom may have had to discount prices or throw in special deals at their own risk. Or, a customer overspends for quality while the company has the most benefit. In staffing, if a candidate is hired, the candidate, the staffing company, and the client all win.
