Why Recruiters Will Never Become Obsolete
Will human resources forever be so “human”? How about recruiters? With the rise of job search and hiring technology, many people are assuming that hiring professionals will eventually become obsolete. So...should we be worried? No. Not in the slightest. Why? Because in a way, technology is more our friend than our foe. It won't replace us, it'll actually just maximize our recruiting power. Here's why:
New Technology Makes Us Better
A couple of decades back, HR professionals were knee deep in paper resumes and file folders. It's hard enough to organize all this information, much less have the time to look over each resume thoroughly. Recruiting and HR software takes away these tedious organizational tasks, so we can focus on the nitty gritty – the application content. Not only that, but we also get to learn competitive, valuable skills that'll set up apart from other recruiting. The more optimized the process, the better the results.
Technology Can't Replace Good Judgment
Sure, software can scan for keywords in a resume and detect grammatical errors. But no form of software can assess a great personality or culture fit. When it comes down to picking the right candidate for a job, robots or automated softwares can't make that decision. Negotiation, emotional understanding – these things are essential to quality recruitment and cannot be replaced.
Technology Gives Us Key Metrics
New technology won't trump on our important human attributes. In fact, it'll be able to measure how effective we are and consequently help us improve. It helps us accurately measure our progress, productivity, and market trends. We can see how we measure up to our competition, and give us the tools to positive growth in an instant.
Every Industry Goes Through Advancement
Think of engineering and tech professionals. They're building these advanced tech programs to simplify our lifestyles – and essentially, to give them less work to do. However, they're not afraid of becoming obsolete. Why? Because they're the creators, the problem solvers, and the ideators of their industries. As recruiters and human resources professionals, we're ultimately the ones who decide what will benefit our industry, and what it needs help with. We know our industry's origins and have racked our brains to create ways to give ourselves less work to do. We are in control of the technology, it won't override us.
