Job Description
Will provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports for companies. Utilizing hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, Staff Accountant performs complex accounting activities and financial analyses. Analyzing complex financial reports and records. Making recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets and expenditures. Reviewing journal entries of junior accountants to ensure accuracy. Training and mentoring junior staff. Performing variance analyses and preparing account reconciliations. Assisting with financial and tax audits. Documenting and monitoring internal controls in support of auditing team. Coordinating more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments. Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Documents financial transactions by entering account information. Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information preparing balance sheet account schedules, and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Guides clerical staff in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable by coordinating activities and answering questions. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Secures financial information by completing data base backups. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements. Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations. Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing an
Skills Required
BA Degree in Accounting or Economics. 4+ yrs exp in accounting. Exp in public and private sector. Knowledge of Corporate, Public and Private Finance. Familiar with SAP and ERP systems.
Skills Preferred
Certified Public Accountant CPA license.
