As buyer, you will be responsible for managing assigned purchasing areas that efficiently and cost effectively support the operation. The buyer works directly with suppliers to ensure quality, cost and delivery standards are met while following purchasing policies and procedures. Manage a network of vendors to ensure on-time delivery of quality product. Understand forecasting methods demand, trend, seasonality. Optimize inventory across multiple distribution centers. Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate best terms, pricing and delivery. Place purchase orders, control inventory, ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels and minimize overstock or stock out conditions. Arrange transport of goods and track orders to point of delivery. Partner with warehouse teams to expedite the receiving and check-in of goods and materials. Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management. Collaborate with Merchandising, Sales and Engineering on sales events, new items, product availability and quality related issues. Research and evaluate potential new sources of supply. On-board new suppliers as needed. Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
5 yrs exp as a buyer, replenishment re-buyer or inventory planner. Proficient in MS Office with an emphasis on Excel and Access. Critical thinking and negotiation skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Bachelors Degree. Automotive parts industry experience. Microsoft Navision NAV experience a plus. Occasional domestic travel to trade shows, company events and supplier locations.
