Job Description
Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, under the Manager of Purchasing, to assure the smooth operation of the facility. Purchases various component, raw material, or maintenance and repair items at the most favorable cost. Works with assigned vendors to assure that goods supplied are consistent with pre-defined standards of quality, quantity, on-time delivery and other factors. Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Approves invoices for payment. From various computer generated reports and displays, expedites, releases, defers or cancels orders for component parts and materials required to support the Master Production Schedule.
Skills Required
HS DiplomaGED. 7+ yrs exp in manufacturing environment. Able to interpret MRP reports and address action messages. Able to manage multiple vendors with high count of SKUs. Self starter. Good communication skills.
Skills Preferred
QAD experience a plus.
