The Director of Human Resources reports to the Chief Human Resource Officer and works collaboratively with the Provost in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Human Resource operations Thisis an executivepositionservingthe Southern California locations in Culver City and Santa Barbara, in addition to external sites. Responsibilities include a full range of human resources activities with this role serving as integral part of the campus and Human Resources administrative team. This position will be responsible for assuring the campus is in compliance with Polices and all federal, state and local laws. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the strategic direction of the University, specifically in the areas of talent acquisition and management, performance management, employee relations and engagement and compliance efforts. Develop and conduct a robust employee onboarding experience for new employees. Advises and consults with staff and faculty regarding employee relations and assists with appropriate resolution of employee relation issues. Directs and coordinates the actions surrounding employee separations. Manage the voluntary exit interview process for the region. Create an exit interview strategy for departing staff that will capture University related agenda topics. Analyze feedback from exit interviews, determines trends and work to improve relations and processes. Work closely and directly with managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase retention. Coach, guide and assist managers in carrying out their responsibilities on employee relations matters. Provide oversight on performance counseling, performance management, and prevention of adverse incidents. Lead investigations of issues such as working conditions complaints and disciplinary actions by serving as an internal consultant to management and advisemediate situations where needed. Masters Degree. 7 yrs of exp in Human Resources. 3 yrs of supervisory exp in HR. Knowledge of HR practices in a higher education environment. Proficient in employment and labor laws, wage garnishments, benefits and deductions.
SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification and exp in a higher education environment highly preferred. Knowledge of Colleague, Banner or other higher educational software programs.
