Job Description
Develops design drawings and related specifications of mechanical equipment . Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts. Creates detailed scale layouts of components and assemblies to clearly define surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances ,and location of holes of related component parts. Drafts detailed multi view drawings of plastic, machined and sheet metal component parts and subassemblies, including specifications for raw materials used and fasteners where applicable. Provides time-line schedule information to complete projects for long term projects based on product knowledge, understanding of the engineering process as it relates to other department functions and product knowledge. Provides finish-time information for long-term projects. Creates Data entry ready item master, B.O.M. sales order information and other related engineering documents. Complexity will range from simple B.O.M. structures to complete product B.O.M. documentation. Able to help direct others in the documentation of projects assigned. Completes Engineering change Order forms for projects assigned. Proficient with AutoCAD computer drafting software for creating engineering layouts, detail part drawings and assembly drawings. Proficient with all aspects of the Pro-E solid modeling software including creating models and assemblies of complex designs and the subsequent detail drawings. Proficient in tabulating parts and assemblies. Proficient in creating detail, assembly and illustrated part drawings as needed to produce the finished product. Able to problem solve issues that arise with software. Capable of assisting other designers with design ideas and modeling methods. Proficient in Windows Word and Excel programs to process engineering documentation.
Skills Required
Associates or 1-4 years experience in an engineering environment. 3D experience in ProE, solidworks or AutoCAD.
Skills Preferred
Sheet metal experience a plus.Pro E experience a plus
